Suman Hedge Bloodstock ventured into the brave new world of equine sale cyberspace to secure the quality mare Delectation Girl for 245K via the William Inglis July Online Sale.
The former Australian Bloodstock raced mare that was bred in England has had an international career racing in Germany, England, the USA, and Australia and registering a treble of Group 3 victories.
The 7yo daughter of Delegator last raced for Ballarat trainer Matt Cumani registering a placing at Flemington and adding to her prizemoney haul of $368,962.
SHB Proprietor Suman Hedge was delighted with the purchase.
“The mare market is so hot at the moment so to pick up a high-quality multiple Group 3 winner for 245K we think represents decent value. We believe she will really let down after getting in foal and become a nice broodmare prospect.”
Hedge outlined big plans for the internationally performed mare.
“She will be retired immediately and sent to our friends at Noorilim Park who will walk her in for a spring cover to Written Tycoon,” said Hedge
The Victorian-based agent believes the online concept is great and will only grow in time.
“Whilst I adore attending sales and seeing the horses together in the flesh the online concept is rapidly growing and great for the industry. It is providing a more fluid marketplace for people to buy and sell and with the increased quality of videos and photos giving people more confidence to get involved.”
Hedge indicated he has not finished his shopping spree despite a busy sale period.
“We are delighted with what we have purchased to date, it’s been hectic but we feel we have picked the eyes out of the sales and bought some real quality. That said we have not completed our orders and will continue to scour the market for opportunities in the mare market.”
