SHB acquire sale-topping stunner
The William Inglis Great Southern Sale was conducted under trying circumstances with COVID-19 outbreaks but provided Suman Hedge Bloodstock to acquire a stunning mare Too Good Too Hard for a sale-topping amount of 560K.
Catalogued as LOT 575 in the supplementary section of the sale, Too Good Too Hard was offered by Mill Park Stud as a racing and breeding proposition having previously raced 19 times for 6 wins and 6 placings and just over 272K in prizemoney.
The Phillip Stokes trained daughter of All Too Hard has been Group 3 placed and thrice Listed placed and won from 1100-1200m.
The bay mare instantly caught the attention of SHB proprietor Suman Hedge.
“We have been buying quality mares all year with a focus on physique and speed and Too Good Too Hard was right in the slot, she is an outstanding type and has shown high level sprinting prowess throughout her career,” said Hedge
Too Good Too Hard’s sire All Too Hard was a high-class racehorse and after a slow start has now established himself as a consistent sire of quality offspring with the likes of Group 1 winners Bohemoth and Alligator Blood heading his 21 individual stakes winners.
The Good Wife, dam of Too Good Too Hard is a city placed winning daughter of champion stallion and broodmare sire Redoute’s Choice who from just 3 named foals has already produced 2 stakes placegetters.
A family of depth, Too Good Too Hard’s grand dam My Madonna is the mother of outstanding mare Divine Madonna, a four-time Group 1 winner as well as the multiple Group winner Blessum.
Hedge declared relief at finally being able to purchase from Mill Park, a much-admired farm.
“I have been trying to buy something from Mill Park for years, pound for pound they are nearly the best producing farm in the country so it’s terrific to finally get one and such a lovely horse in Too Good Too Hard.”
The Victorian-based bloodstock agent outlined clear plans for the rising 6yo.
“We will keep her with Phillip Stokes and target one or two black type races before the spring and she will then head to Yulong Stud for a mating with Written Tycoon.”
