New Zealand proves a happy hunting ground for John Sadler and Suman Hedge Bloodstock

New Zealand once again proved to be fertile buying ground for trainer John Sadler who was able to secure two lovely yearlings from the New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Sale in partnership with Suman Hedge Bloodstock.

Late last year Sadler teamed up with us to purchase two athletic colts from the Ready to Run Sale and this time we were able to secure an outstanding Zoustar filly and striking son of Sacred Falls.

The first purchase, LOT 455 is a lovely daughter of Champion First Season Sire Zoustar from the Fastnet Rock daughter Sweet Butterfly.

This athletic filly has the customary Zoustar head and movement and caught trainer Sadler’s eye the moment he saw her.

“She is just a beautiful filly, she has the quality and athleticism of her sire and was just an absolute stand out which I had to have,” said Sadler.

Breeder Gordon Cunningham of Curraghmore shares Sadler’s enthusiasm for the horse.

“Look this filly is just a queen, I absolutely loved her all the way through and was happy to keep a leg in her. She moves around so beautifully in the paddock and just has star quality, I’m delighted she’s going to a great trainer and will get every chance,” said Cunningham.

This filly will remain in New Zealand at Curraghmore to be broken in and will come over to Australia shortly after.

The second purchase, LOT 625 is a striking brown son of former duel G1 Doncaster winner Sacred Falls.

This colt who is out of a half sister to stakes winning sprinter Keano is also from the family of Take the Rap and Madison County and is interestingly line bred 3 x 3 to former champion 2yo Courtza.

“This colt is such an eye-catching horse, you just cannot stop looking at him with his beautiful skin and athletic build, he just looks a racehorse to me and I cannot wait to get him into my yard,” said Sadler.

The attractive colt has the successful O’Reilly/Zabeel cross and was bred by one of the best farms in Australasia in Waikato Stud.

At $130,000 he was probably half price on what he would have made in Sacred Falls first crop and represents terrific value for an elite sprinting physical with stallion presence.
