Emerging South Australian Trainer Will Clarken, David Jolly and Suman Hedge Bloodstock have completed the Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale as the leading buyer of yearlings at the sale snaring 8 horses for $751,000.
The trio was active throughout the sale going as high as $200,000 for a Capitalist colt and $180,000 for a Sooboog filly and as little as $16,000 for a Manhattan Rain colt.
“We came to this sale wanting to be aggressive and buy what we believed were the best types in the sale and I really think we have been able to achieve this which is very pleasing,” said Clarken.
Clarken was very taken by the Capitalist colt out of Fastnet Rock mare Bleue Pepite and was rapt to snap him up.
“He was a horse that we really liked and both Suman and I are familiar with his family and no how talented this colt’s siblings are. His sire is showing a lot of promise and he is such a strong imposing colt that looks like he will run very early.”
Hedge was particularly pleased to secure the elegant filly by Sooboog from the Edinburgh Park draft.
“She was just a queen that filly, so beautifully put together, light on her feet and from one of the most important and prolific families in the studbook, it is not easy to buy into these families so we are very happy to get her,” said Hedge
The pair were also delighted to pick up colts by Highland Reel and Your Song which they rated highly along with David Jolly.
“The Highland Reel colt was nearly the best physical in the sale, he is a stunning type whilst the Your Song is imposing and strong and just oozes class, we think these lads plus the others we have secured have us in excellent stead for the season ahead.
