Suman Hedge Bloodstock is delighted to secure in partnership with Ciaron Maher Racing a beautiful son of Rubick at the 2019 NZB Premier Sale at Karaka.
The flashy colt was one of the most popular and well admired yearlings in the Waikato Stud draft leading to strong competition in the ring with the precocious colt eventually being knocked down for $360,000 NZ.
“I’ve been looking for an elite colt for some time and as soon as I saw this horse I knew he was the one I had to have. From the moment he stepped in front of me he just showed enormous athleticism, strength, and fluent movement which combined with his x-factor and stallion presence made him an absolute stand out, I am delighted to have secured him,” said Hedge
The colt’s sire Rubick was himself a very sharp sprinter, winning the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes as well as the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude as a 2yo.

At stud, Rubick has started his career in ominous fashion siring the very smart colt Yes Yes Yes as well as recent Moonee Valley winner Andrassy Avenue.
Yes Yes Yes was favourite in January for the Magic Millions before a minor injury ruled him out of the race. He is now being set for the Group 1 Golden Slipper with champion trainer Chris Waller taking over his training.
Andrassy Avenue looked every inch a star bolting in at Moonee Valley and will be a starter in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield where he looks to have good claims.
Kim Dynasty, the dam of this colt was a useful racemare who won 3 races and herself is a half-sister to Arlingtonboulevard, a Group 1 winning daughter of Spinning World.
This is also the family of stakes winners Europe to Africa, Military Chief and Jack of Clubs and looks a family chock full of speed and precocity.
This purchase which is the first between Suman Hedge Bloodstock and Ciaron Maher Racing will hopefully prove the first of many with other purchases in the pipeline both domestically and internationally between the pair.
“I’ve always been a massive rap for Ciaron and I think his training partnership with Davis Eustace is working particularly well. The fact he loved this colt and that he has shown his ability to manage colts made the decision to partner up with him very easy, hopefully it is the start of a good working relationship,” said Hedge.
The Rubick colt is currently being broken in at WBF Breaking and Equine Education in NSW and will be sent down to VIC to his trainer at the completion of this process.
